Greg Denny

Executive Officer

Greg has over 15 years’ experience in sport management and joined Queensland Canoeing in October 2015. Greg is responsible for general management, organisational governance and QC staff to support the promotion, development and growth of paddlesport in Queensland.

Prior to joining Queensland Canoeing, Greg held senior roles within the Australian Rugby Union, leading the administration, governance, and development of participation strategy nationally. Greg has also worked extensively in events management, university sport and has work closely with State bodies, local associations and clubs in delivering education programs to assist volunteers improve the running of their clubs.

Greg is passionate about sport and recreation – the enjoyment, health benefits and sense of community it brings. Greg is actively involved in a variety of sports as a participant, coach, manager, volunteer and parent.

Greg has a Bachelor of Arts – Leisure Management (Griffith University) and Masters of Commerce Degree (University of Sydney).

Elisabet Osk Gudmundsdottir

Events and Membership Coordinator

Elisabet has previous experience in events and sport management and joined Queensland Canoeing in 2017. Elisabet is responsible for coordinating events, club and member administration and communications.

Prior to joining Queensland Canoeing, Elisabet worked at Valur FC one of Iceland´s most successful clubs. Where she coordinated events and game day operations. She also led a research project for the Queensland Academy of Sports (QAS), which aimed to understand the specific support needs for talent transfer athletes.

Elisabet is passionate about sport; in particular increased sports participation and athlete support systems.

Elisabet has a degree in Events and Sport Management with First Class Honours (Griffith University).

Steven Rowland

Recreation & Education Officer

Steven has over 30 years’ experience from around the world working and playing in the outdoors.  Having joined Queensland Canoeing at the start of 2016, Steven is responsible for managing all Recreation and Education programs & activities.

Prior to joining Queensland Canoeing, Steven ran his own multi award winning adventure tourism and outdoor education business in far north Queensland for 20 years.

Steven is passionate about paddling and playing in the outdoors, looking after the environment and the benefits it produces.  Steve is involved in a number of other sports as a teacher, volunteer and parent.

Steven has a Diploma of Business and Work, Health and Safety (Churchill Education) and is an Australian Canoeing Advanced Instructor and Assessor for Whitewater Kayak, Canoe and Sea Kayak.

As well as many wonderful and hard working instructors, coaches, officials, volunteers and committee members.
