Greg Denny, QC Executive Officer has tendered his resignation to the Board of Qld Canoeing and will finish on Friday July 27th .
Greg commenced at Qld Canoeing in October 2015, and along with a dedicated team and our many volunteers has worked tirelessly to encourage the development, growth and enjoyment of paddling in Queensland.
Under Greg’s leadership and commitment to engaging with and supporting our committees, clubs and members Qld Canoeing has been active in the community, with regular club visits, club president and committee meetings and monthly E-Newsletter assisting with open and transparent communication. Our event and event participation has grown from a handful of State events to a range of events fostering participation across all disciplines. We have seen in increase in newly affiliated clubs joining the Association in recent years, as well as, a modest growth of overall members. Greg has also worked collaboratively with state government, councils, QSport, QORF, and other state sporting organisation for the benefit of paddling.
During his tenure, Greg has also overseen significant reform in the organisation’s governance with the assistance of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee which will culminate at this year’s AGM transitioning from Qld Canoeing to Paddle Queensland. In 2017, Greg took on the challenge to revive the Qld Canoeing Annual Awards which recognise the outstanding contribution of both individuals and clubs to the development of paddling in Queensland. A wonderful tradition that will continue again this year on Saturday 1st September.
All of us at Queensland Canoeing would like to take this opportunity to thank Greg for his dedication towards developing paddlesports in Queensland and wish him good luck with his future endeavours.
