This year’s Maroochy River Paddle was held 3 September 2017. Despite the event being on Father’s Day a good turnout of over 200 paddlers took on the course. The weather for the day was ideal and the first start (recreational) was underway on time at 9.30am enjoying the best of the conditions. The main event was away an hour later and although the wind had increased the following tide saw the first boats arrive at the Sunshine Coast Paddlesports club house 17 km later in around 75 minutes. All but one paddler made it home with that being an exit at Bli Bli were collected by family. Competitors then enjoyed the barbeque put on by the local Rotary Club before the presentation and the random prize draws (major prize being two nights’ accommodation at a 4 star Noosa Heads resort). By all reports all enjoyed the day and looking for a bigger and better (and non Father’s Day) event in 2018.
