The fourth annual ‘Coomera Cup‘ was run today at the Gold Coast City Marina. This years event was again attached to the multi million dollar boat expo which 100,000 people attend over the three days.
With thousands in attendance, paddlers paddle three laps of the four kilometre course which saw them paddle around Foxwell Island and up the Coomera River. This year we had paddlers from 12 years to 40+ with a great mix of kayak, ocean and SLSA skis. Our Under 16 paddlers only covered 8km (2 laps) and we have added 10hours to their finishing time so they did not interfere with the 12km event results. Both crews finished under tyne hour.
Brisbane paddler, Tim Stenlake took line honours for the third straight time collecting the $100 cash, the trophy and a gold medal. Billy Bain came second ($75 cash and medal) who pushed tim all the way with Tim out sprinting Billy on the line. Alex Machenzie-Templar come third ($25 cash and medal). The first female was April Davie who also collected $50 and a gold medal.
