Australian Canoe Polo is considering a junior (17 years of age or younger by the 1st January 2013) development tour of New Zealand later this year and is asking for expressions of interest.
The tour will expose young players to high level competition under the guidance of an experienced coach and it is an excellent oppotunity for the development of all canoe polo skills. New Zealand is a very strong canoe polo nation, with successful results at the 2012 World Championships in both under 21 categories and large numbers of young people playing the sport, so this experience will be important to future elite players in Australia.
The tour will be from the 26th September to the 7th October 2013 (12 days). The squad will travel around the North Island and visit the major canoe polo areas, playing and training against local teams. This tour is estimated to cost $2300 including airfares, transport, accommodation, food and the coach and manager expenses. Each team will have a coach and the squad will have a manager.
At this stage we are seeking expressions of interest to see if this idea could be successful. Hopefully, there will be enough interest for both a male team and a female team. If you are interested in this tour or if you have any questions please contact the Australian Canoe Polo Development Director, Angus Robb: email@example.com.
